We all have a story.
Here’s mine.
My name is Andrew (Andy to most), I graduated from The London Institute (LCP) with a BA in Graphic & Communication Design and have spent most of my life living, studying & working in the UK (London & Cambridge) and America (Boston). My Wife and I, along with our Cat, moved to Aotearoa (New Zealand) in 2017 in search of a different way of life, one that’s more connected to the natural world.
As of 2021 we are still happily discovering what that means in this beautiful, remote corner of the planet.
That’s the short story but what about the short, short story? What do I love and enjoy? Well in no particular order (apart from running first) it is: Running. Space. Science. The great outdoors. Photography. Writing. History. Literature. Lego. Old books. Tea. Cats. Politics. Gardening and occasionally designing stuff (hopefully this is the part you’re most interested in).
But what of our Antipodean adventure? Well here are the three things I cherish most about life in Aotearoa…
The Southern night sky. I think you have to come from a place where zero light pollution has almost become an impossibility to truly appreciate the unmatched beauty of pitch black, starlit nights.
Tree ferns. They always make me feel like I’m wandering through a prehistoric, lost world. They invoke a wonder that hasn’t diluted over time.
Native bird sound. The unmistakable rattle of a Tui, the soft midnight hoot of the tiny Morepork and the flutter of a dancing Fantail. Like some sort of South Pacific calling card, each one reminds you of your place in the world.
